Survey 2 : Brisbane

Since 4/2025 KIIS 97.3 has climbed from last to #2. They have taken listeners off B105 and Nova 106.9.

Survey 1 : Brisbane

Nova 106.9 lost 3.0 falling below the other stations. They lost most listeners in the under 25 age groups with 18-24 down 10.7.

Survey 8 : Brisbane

B105, KIIS and 4BH are tied for #3 with Nova only 0.6 ahead. Little separates the stations with Triple M peaking in working hours whilst B105 dips in evening.

Survey 7 : Brisbane

KISS 97.3 increased by 1.7. They are now #2 in 18-24 (up 2.2) and 45-54 (up 4.8) age groups and also added 2.6 in 25-39.

Survey 6 : Brisbane

Unlike the other stations KIIS 973 is not popular in a specific age group and is losing listeners.
  • B105 leads in the 10-17 age group
  • Nova 106.9 leads in the 18-24 and 25-39 age groups
  • Triple J is most popular in the 25-39 age group
  • Triple M leads in the 40-54 and 55-64 age groups

Year-on-Year : Brisbane

There is little change in 12 months. 97.3 FM and Nova 106.9 have unchanged market share. B105 gained 0.3% but MMM lost the same percent resulting in Southern Cross Austereo also having an unchanged market share. JJJ was the exception gaining 1.8% :


Survey 1 : Brisbane

97.3 FM regained 1.4% to return to #1 as Nova 106.9 lost 1.7%. Whilst ABC 612 and JJJ lost listeners for B105 to climb above them to #3 :
  1. 13.4% - 97.3 FM (Adult Contemporary/ARN)
  2. 11.9% - Nova 106.9 (Chart/DMG)
  3. 10.1% - B105 (Chart/Southern Cross Austereo)
  4.   9.4% - JJJ
  5.   9.4% - MMM (Rock/Southern Cross Austereo)
  6.   9.0% - ABC 612
97.3 FM regained #1 by taking listeners away fromm Nova 106.9 during the workday. JJJ fell below B105 by losing over 2% across all hours except for breakfast and weekends :

Year-on-Year : Brisbane

JJJ has increased its share by 3.2% taking listeners away from all FM stations except #1 Nova 106.


JJJ has climbed over the Southern Cross Austereo stations, B105 and MMM, to become #3 FM station. Whilst Nova and 97.3 FM continue to compete for the #1 title:


Survey 8 : Brisbane

Nova 106.9 gained 1.1% whilst 97.3 FM lost a similar amount for Nova to become #1. JJJ gained 0.8% to replace B105 as #4 :
  1. 13.6% - Nova 106.9 (Chart/DMG)
  2. 12.0% - 97.3 FM (Adult Contemporary/ARN)
  3. 10.9% - ABC 612
  4. 10.5% - JJJ
  5.   9.8% - B105 (Chart/Southern Cross Austereo)
  6.   8.0% - MMM (Rock/Southern Cross Austereo)
Nova 106.9 gained listeners throughout the day with 3% in the afternoon. 97.3 FM lost #1 by losing listeners throughout the day with drive down 2.3%. Similarly MMM who lost 1% had its biggest loss in the afternoon, down 2.7% :

Survey 7 : Other Listening

This week, Community Broadcasting Association of Australia and Commercial Radio Australia announce an increase in listening. CBAA report that an average 29% of radio listeners tune into community radio each week. Whilst CRA report that 12.3% of listening is now done on digital radio.

This would be represented in the unaccounted figure in Survey 7. In Sydney and Adelaide, the 18-39 ages are exploring other options the most. Whilst it is the senior ages in the other cities. In Perth, it is 27% for 65 and older.

Year-on-Year : Brisbane

12 months ago, Nova had a 3.7% lead over 97.3FM. But with Nova losing listeners and 97.3FM gaining, these stations are contesting for the #1 station :


Brisbane has a similar pattern to Adelaide. The Southern Cross Austereo stations - B105 and MMM - have lost listeners and with JJJ gaining 2.9% has crept up to them. 


Survey 7 : Brisbane

Both the Southern Cross Austereo station - B105 and MMM - lost listeners and both slipped down 1 position :
  1. 13.2% - 97.3 FM (Adult Contemporary/ARN)
  2. 12.5% - Nova 106.9 (Chart/DMG)
  3. 10.6% - ABC 612
  4. 10.0% - B105 (Chart/Southern Cross Austereo)
  5.   9.7% - JJJ
  6.   9.0% - MMM (Rock/Southern Cross Austereo)
The Southern Cross Austereo stations lost listeners in the 18-24 age group. B105 is down 5.7% whilst MMM is down 3.7%.

Year-on-Year : Brisbane

The only station station to lose substantial listeners in the last 12 months is MMM, with JJJ and 97.3FM making the biggest gains :


Each survey over the year, 97.3FM and Nova have been competing to become Brisbane #1. Whilst Southern Cross Austereo stations - B105 and MMM - are too closely competing. 


Survey 6 : Brisbane

97.3 FM has increased its share whilst Nova 106.9 lost to see no change on top :
  1. 13.0% - 97.3 FM (Adult Contemporary/ARN)
  2. 12.5% - Nova 106.9 (Chart/DMG)
  3. 10.2% - B105 (Chart/Southern Cross Austereo)
  4. 10.1% - ABC 612
  5.   9.8% - MMM (Rock/Southern Cross Austereo)
  6.   7.5% - JJJ
97.3 FM remains on top by leading 40-54 age group. Whilst Nova 106.9 has a 22-24% market share in the under 40 population to consolidate its #2 position.

Year-on-Year : Brisbane

The station which has gained the most listeners in the last 12 months is 97.3 FM. The 1.3% increase has made it the most popular station in Brisbane. At the other end, MMM has lost the most with 1.5%. 


Mix

Mix across the country is split. In Adelaide, it is the clear leader. Along with Brisbane (97.3 FM), is seeing an increase in listeners. Sydney is maintaining its listeners if only floating around a lowly 5%. Whilst Perth and Melbourne are gradually losing their market share.


Survey 5 : Brisbane

97.3 FM has replaced Nova 106.9 as Brisbane's most-listened to station. MMM lost 0.5% falling to 5th below B105 and ABC 612 :
  1. 13.0% - 97.3 FM (Adult Contemporary/ARN)
  2. 12.5% - Nova 106.9 (Chart/DMG)
  3. 10.2% - B105 (Chart/Southern Cross Austereo)
  4. 10.1% - ABC 612
  5.   9.8% - MMM (Rock/Southern Cross Austereo)
  6.   7.5% - JJJ
Despite Nova 106.9 having a 23% market share in the under 40 population, it lost its #1 spot to 97.3 FM.
